It is so hard to believe it has been five long years since the horrific mass shooting happened.

I will never forget waking up to open the CNN app on my Samsung and finding out that my home state was in the news for a horrible, unimaginable reason.

It was on home turf as I was living in Winter Springs-different part than now-about twenty miles from the Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

At that time I was working for a Boar’s Head distributor and worked adjacent to the delis in 17 different Publix grocery stores. They were spread out all over the Orlando Metro area. Over the next few very somber weeks I met many first responders and nurses and even some ER doctors who were caring for the victims. The event was marked into their souls.

It was a sad, scary, confusing, angering event. It is something that the people of this area will never forget, and hopefully, learn from.
