The rain is here

The storms I wrote about on Thursday are finally here, but they aren’t mild storms. It’s pouring.

Lots of thunder and lightning. I’m getting ready to go to bed. I love falling asleep to the sound of a Florida thunderstorm.

Both images are screenshots from the WKMG Channel 6 Weather app.

    1. Yeah, I lived in Portland, Oregon for seven years. The Western PNW gets most of its rain in the Winter when it’s not hot enough to produce lightning. Every so often in the Summer we got a thunderstorm. I think I heard thunder seven times the whole time I lived there. Florida is actually the lightning capital of North America. We get 7×1000 lightning strikes in a typical Summer storm.

      1. Yeah, I’m Portland. I miss the gloom. I miss Powell’s Books and 900 coffee shops and great beer and car drivers who are used to sharing the road with cyclists. I miss the mountains, and the very walkable city. I miss the amazing mass transit that’s so good, you practically do not need a car. But, Florida is beautiful. It has unique, misunderstood beauty. There is no state like Florida. I’m sick of our idiot Governor.
