Still on the hamster wheel

It’s another blog post on the run. That’s all I have time for…..

….we still have no Wifi at home, so I’m still mooching it off the laundromat (our dryer is toast) or, like now, using the Wifi at work.

My shift ended at 4 pm. I started at 11am. Yep, kind of a joke. They are cutting hours. Big time. I got 10.75 hours this week and the week after that. Last year for Thanksgiving week, I’m pretty damn sure, I had well over 30 hours. Hmmm, could it be that retailers are scared of what the orange turd’s tariffs are doing to their profits? I’m going to go out on a limb and say, “Oh, hell yeah.”

It’s not just our store, I was at the Oviedo store last night using my holiday 30% discount and I asked a couple of their associates—btw, that’s the store I want to transfer to—who told me their management is cracking down also.

So, I’m in a dilemma. I’m still trying to set up gigs with Rover, to dog walk and cat sit, but there are some things I have to invest in first. I have to pay for the credit check, and get some supplies, such as poopy bags, and maybe some gloves, but I run out of paycheck before I can get that stuff covered. Plus, it’s highly recommended to do some volunteer work with the critters I’ll be caring for, just to get experience. I’m used to handling cats; I’m a cat magnet, but I haven’t lived much with dogs since 1985. Our temporary roommate, Vickie, had a dog, named Bo. I posted lots of pics of him on here. Vickie and Bo only lived with us for 1.5 years.

I don’t mind doing the volunteer work at all, but that takes time away hours I can use to get the money I need to be successful with the critter gig.

So, I decided, if my silly antiqued iPhone7 can handle the app for Uber Eats, I’m going to give it a try to earn money to start Rover.

I talk to a lot of in-store shoppers working as a cashier in a grocery store. Most of the Uber shoppers like it better than Door Dash. Some like it better than Instacart, which I think pays more, but their shoppers say it sucks when there’s an issue they have to fix via Instacart support team. They often can’t get through them. Plus, I’m still mad at the way they barely handled the fraudulent account some pinhead started by using my debit card about three years ago. My bank took care of it in a day. I had my money back in two days. I didn’t hear from Instacart for three weeks. When they finally emailed me back, I responded with, “Fuck you! My bank fixed it three weeks ago.”

Other fun things I’m dealing with: going through my second year of researching Medicare plans. Gawd, it’s such a pain in the ass. I miss my Obamacare (ACA) insurance so much. I’m still trying to squirrel away a few dollars here and there to improve my domestic situation. I want and need 180 degree change. I swear, that’s only going to come through hard work and mostly luck. I’m also doing another round of student loan forbearance. I just printed off eight paystubs in the managers’ office. And, I’m working on purging junk around our apartment. I just recycled a paper grocery bag full of old medical info. I still had paperwork from my first knee replacement, from December 2019!

Doesn’t it deem like this shit never ends and it steals so much pleasure from life? I dream and visualize road-trips in my life almost constantly.

Well, I’m officially sick of looking at the breakroom. I’m going to mosey.

If I don’t get back here before Thanksgiving, have a great feast and, hopefully, quality time with friends and family.
