Marching forward with hope

Not sure why, but I feel a miracle of some kind coming my way. I sure hope my intuition maintains it’s excellent record on this.

This post will be a quickie. I’m at the Publix at Winter Springs Town Center. Yeah, Publix—that’s another thing that is probably going to be in flux. It’s not the same company it once was, the company I was proud to say I worked for. Their politics have gotten even more distasteful. More on that in a later blogpost. I’m here for a few things and to mooch free Wifi. Ours is out indefinitely. Getting Wifi is another hurdle I am leaping over. But, every hurdle has its own priority level.

Some good news: I received a refund from partsgeek.com. My Nissan Rogue (Poyndexter) had needed an alternator since Christmas Eve, about seven months. In my anxiety and stress, I failed to notice I’d ordered one for the Sport version of the Rogue. I have the tank version. The refund was about $25 short—there’s a restocking fee. I’m sure they’d blame it on that. I’m just so sick of dealing with that issue I want to just cut my losses and say, “I’m done with it. I’m so very grateful to have a great mobile mechanic. I’m grateful to be driving this beastie again.” My mechanic, Andrew, drove it after the work to see if the battery icon would go off. It didn’t, but he said, “Yeah, it drives real nice.” The next day, I drove over to his house where he used his more intricate diagnostic computer and he got the icon sensor to go off. No, problems since. So, Poyndexter’s illness has been cured since August 13th.

I’m so grateful. I can start making more life plans again. I’m lucky that I had the use of my roommate’s Honda. But, she honestly really had to let me use it as she was constantly in and out of the hospital, mostly with kidney issues, and one of us needed to get to work to have money to pay the bills. She’s actually at AdventHealth Altamonte Hospital right now. She’s having surgery tomorrow.

That’s why we have no Wifi at home. She’s still not working and I can’t cover it right now. I’m glad she started getting disability, so she can at least pay her half of the rent.

I’m going to be finalizing everything to start walking dogs and sitting with cats via Rover. There seems to be less hassle working for them than going out on my own. Eventually, if I enjoy it, I’ll start my own business. In the meantime, this will be a good way to build up customer loyalty.

Well, this is all I have time for this early evening. Going in search of red taters and shallots, and god help me, I hope I don’t see any tantalizing BOGO’s. Publix is famous for that, well, it’s more like, infamous.

I’m courting some of this. Not my photo.
Poyndexter, the Rogue.
