I’m in the breakroom at work. My shift is done, but no Wifi at home—still.

I happened to remember that the deadline for getting the new, “real ID,” is May 7th. I needed to check and see if my license has the little gold star on it, which I don’t think it does.
So, I looked in my wallet. It wasn’t where it goes. I tore it apart. No license. I looked in my transparent pink little zipper bag I keep at my register so I don’t have to carry my wallet around if I need to buy stuff at the store, such as lunch, or chocolate. Sometimes those two are the same thing. It wasn’t in there.
I couldn’t recall the last time I pulled it out of my wallet—except when I did a return at Walmart about four days ago. Even with a receipt the clerk has to look at your ID because if your sale was on a debit card, it automatically gets deposited into your account without the clerk looking at your debit card. Personally, I think that practice may cut down on fraud. Thus, I think I didn’t not get my ID back.
I tried to reach that Walmart about five times. When I called there was no option to speak to customer service, there was a store operator option. I did finally get the operator who then tried to connect me customer service. I let the phone ring about 30 times. No answer. Errgh.
I guess I’m stopping there on the way home. That means I need a new insulated food bag and ice from our meat department to keep the milk and salad I want for dinner cold. Living in Floriduh sucks; I don’t want hot sake, or curdled milk. The thought of carrying extra shit around a huge Walmart store gives me mental pain. I need to get embroidery thread there and that will require a hunt, which could take a week, longer. Those huge Walmart stores seem to need multiple zip codes sometimes.
In happy news, I learned that Florida and eight other states have an extended tax deadline of May 1st. I found the article online, but haven’t read through it all. I think it’s because of natural disasters. Pretty sure California is on the list too. I was going to hang out here and do a tax refund extension, but now I’m a little stressed over my missing ID. I guess I’m spending my day off at the DMV tomorrow. Yay!
At least I made my Poyndexter (car) payment. Yes, I named my Nissan Rogue Poyndexter. When I bought the car in May of 2022, with car accident money, I tried to decide on a name. Poyndexter just popped into my head on the way home one day. It fits. He’s a nerd, like I am.
