No more food till Thursday afternoon

It’s 1:02 am EDT. My food and liquid intake stopped at midnight. My surgery isn’t until 12:30 pm, but I have to be there at 10:30 am. I ate dinner late because I’m going to be going without food for about 13 hours. I’m aiming to get up at 8:30 because there are a couple of chores I didn’t get done.

I’ll be doing them without the benefit of coffee. I hope I don’t hurt anyone—unless they vote red. Then, all bets are off.

Preparing for this event I have to take three showers: two tonight and one before I leave for surgery.

The two I take before bed are: one regular shower and shampoo-my hair is begging to be degreased. Then right after that I use an antimicrobial soap called, chlorhexidine gluconate, which I lather all over myself, except for my face and girlie parts. I have to leave it on for about 3-5 minutes—I have to double check on that time. Prior to leaving for the hospital, I take another shower with only the medicated soap. Thank God I don’t have dry skin.

I’m actually kind of glad I am having the surgery later than when I had my left knee done. Then my surgery was at 7:00 am and I had to be at the hospital at 5:00 am. I had to take an Uber to the surgery, so I got there obnoxiously early, at about 4:30 am. Hopefully, I’ll get some sleep. I got about an hour of sleep before my left knee replacement surgery.

Being hypoglycemic, I’m a bit concerned about going so long without food. They better give me sustenance via my veins. I know we talked about my hypoglycemia during my phone pre-op.

Right now, I’m sitting on my unmade bed. I had to launder sheets and blankets, which I did, but I’m waiting till after I shower to make the bed. I’ll probably put my CPAP machine together before I put clean bedclothes on the mattress. I also need to assemble my shower stool.

I think I’ll go ahead and do that.

I can’t wait to collect more stunning hospital jewelry. Or, to have an IV sticking out of my arm.

I took both of these pics the day of my left knee replacement on 12/30/2019. I was in the same hospital I’ll be in later TODAY: AdventHealth Altamonte Springs.
